Modern Landmark, City Permit, Variance, Community Landmark, Video Boards, Monument Sign, Erin Mills Church Campus Mississauga, Passion Project

The Erin Mills Church Campus in Mississauga, Ontario, is home to two congregations: St. Thomas A Becket Anglican Church and Glenbrook Presbyterian Church. When their aging monument sign was damaged in a vehicle collision, the churches saw an opportunity to do more than simply repair it—they wanted a modern sign that would better serve their community.

The original sign featured a distinctive V-shaped design that gave both churches equal visibility on a busy street. Rather than starting from scratch, we preserved this successful layout while completely modernizing the structure and appearance.

One of the biggest challenges was working with an existing structure that had evolved over decades. The previous sign had suffered significant damage, including a bent support pole and impact damage caused by a landscaping boulder during a vehicular accident. After evaluating the site, we determined that the existing concrete foundation could be reused. We removed the damaged sign, installed a new structural support, and built the new sign on top of the existing, reusable base.

The finished sign combines aluminum composite construction, illuminated lightboxes, and digital videoboards, giving each church a dedicated space to share announcements and events. To maintain a clear visual identity, St. Thomas A Becket is represented in green while Glenbrook Presbyterian Church is represented in blue, creating a balanced and highly visible design.

Like many sign projects, the work extended beyond design, fabrication and installation. The project also involved a lengthy municipal permit and variance process, ensuring the final sign met all regulatory requirements while achieving the client’s vision.

The result is a bright, modern landmark that serves both congregations while demonstrating the value of sign refurbishment. By reusing existing infrastructure where possible and upgrading the sign with new technology and materials, we were able to deliver a cost-effective solution that looks and performs like an entirely new installation.
